1st Millennium Electrochemistry Problems: Leadership and Discussion (MELD2026)
From 31st August to 2nd September 2026

Pushing the border of our understanding on microscopic electrode processes

Despite its long history, our understanding of microscopic electrode processes remains limited, even for archetypal multielectron, multiproton reaction of the hydrogen evolution reaction. Accordingly, elucidating the microscopic nature of electrode processes represents one of the enduring grand challenges of electrochemistry. The 1st Millennium Electrochemistry Problems: Leadership and Discussion (MELD2026) meeting aims to bring together leading researchers dedicated to physical electrochemistry and the study of microscopic electrode processes, spanning a wide range of generations and geographical regions. Through this gathering, we seek to expand the frontiers of electrochemical knowledge and to empower the global community engaged in fundamental electrochemistry.
